1) The basic trailer conventions shown within this trailer are that we have been clearly introduced to our protagonist who is Harry and we are also introduced to the other characters within the movie. This affect makes the audience anxious for their role and the purpose of their character and why they bring importance towards the film. Moreover we have a brief story for what is going to happen and this makes the audience want to know more and for the audience to foreshadow what’s going on but we are more anxious to watch the movie and to witness the real story. Moreover we see basic conventions such as the release date which gets us excited as this date is where we can become an eyewitness from seeing the movie so we get excited until the date comes. The storyline has also been briefly told and due to the success of the other and this one being the last it would known as the “phenomenal”. Furthermore as the success of the others we can predict certain aspects for the trailer such as the director and title and characters names.
2) The genre of Harry potter is a fantasy yet an action packed movie due to the sudden outcome of fights and certain narratives within the story. We can see this from the long shots shown to show the whole action scene and also we can see that is a fantasy due to the tracking shots and the close up of characters as this shows the expressions and the tracking shows the use of the characters travel such as the floating bike, driving through the air. In addition to this the mise-en-scene shows it is a fantasy due to the setting around the characters will never be used for any other genre, such as a forest which promotes the violence which occurs, the school where the fictional characters learn and the props such as the floating bike shows the genre as this is not realistic. The non-digetic sound within the trailer also shows the action within the film due to the dramatic music to get us excited and tense moreover the theme song we are familiar with is played so we get excited once we heard this as we know it is the basic harry potter movie.
3) The target audience for the particular movie is an audience from a primary audience of 15- 21 due to the genre we can expect that these are the more likely to watch this movie. Therefore the socio economic class for this movie would be an E, D1 and a C. Furthermore the secondary audience is likely to be older or even younger. The genre of a fantasy is targeted at a younger audience due to them being more immature and in the fantasy movies.
4) The film has been successful for promoting its film due to them having their continued success from their other movie therefore the success of the other movies and the books also promote this movie. The trailer has been successful as it has informed many people of the movie yet it hasn’t given too much away, therefore we as a audience are more anxious to see the movie.
