New Moon =)

1)      The techniques used within this are to persuade the reader of the film, the techniques used the use of suspense, as we want to know as a audience the dangers she wishes to face and how will this guy come into her life to save her. And due to the person saying “they could kill us all” we fear that many of our hero’s and the good people within this film might die due to the knowledge she withholds. Additionally the use of dialogue within the trailer and non-diegetic music creates tension towards our character as we feel fear and tense as we don’t know what could occur and the dangerous paths our protagonist can pass and as an audience we only wish for her safety. Moreover due to the pace of the trailer speeding up and the switch of each shot going very fast we feel that this movie can bring entertainment yet we feel scared and want to see what will happen. Furthermore at one shot it says “from the worldwide best seller” we feel that if we have not seen this and it is worldwide we are only but missing out on the most popular thing in the world therefore as an audience we feel that we must fit into society and we must be like every other person. Also the use cliff hanger towards the ends makes us feel more intense and we feel that our protagonists ‘boyfriend’ may die and we want to see whether he dies or not. In contrast to this due to the success if the first movie many would want to see the next one to how the story can change and what exciting scenes it may bring therefore due to the success of the other movie this can bring more people wanting to see the “next chapter”.

2)      Women within this trailer have been portrayed to be more powerful due to having the protagonist to be women herself. Women are portrayed to be more in charge however still the same characteristics and stereotypes the lead, such as our protagonist leading towards immature things such as try to kill herself however the man has to come save her. This leads a typical stereotype of women as they get their self within a predicament and the men have to save them for their stupidity.  Moreover the men are portrayed to be the more dominant and the alpha male type. As they have been conveyed as the strong, masculine, violent type as they are doing most of the violent scenes and saving our protagonist.

3)      The target audience for this film is both gender due to our protagonist being a women and how she tries to show her dominance, and it is targeted at the male gender due to all the violence within the scene and the fighting. Due to the violence this cannot be shown for a young age audience therefore no below 15 and due to the mythical narrative it cannot be an audience above 30. Therefore the primary target audience is 16-25 as they would understand and enjoy such a story.

4)      The Hollywood values this trailer shows is the institution they show at the beginning. Summit entertainment has launched a huge campaign and a premier for the movie which leads the same values in which a Hollywood premier does. Moreover due to the text “from the worldwide best seller” we immediately think that is going to be good due to the fame it has already come across and due to the success of the director we can foreshadow that this movie will be good.
