Lynx advert =S

How does the text follow the codes and convention of an advert?
The codes and convention the trailer follows are that they use the females to be very sexy and seductive; the use of this brings the audience themselves like the advert for this very reason as the men would like to see women try to ‘hunt’ them and in a very aggressive, sexy way.
This also brings a certain amount of ambiguity for the audience as we don’t know who is pulling the actual rope and why they are doing it, this causes the audience to see the rest of the advert because we wish to see the person responsible for the cause of all this danger this man a come across. Furthermore we can see that from the dangers he crosses we have the fear for this person yet excitement because we fear for this man however we want this to happen to cause the audience to get off their seat and for us to feel that this man is in a serious danger.
The director set this in a city to make it look very realistic and for us to as a reader to believe in the world of the trailer. Therefore the message given across is that by wearing this lynx product you will automatically get women. Men would appreciate such beautiful women and they would then go for the product for the message given across, and try this for themselves.
The use of saying ‘all girls prefer dry guys’ implies how to get beautiful women and for the women to be mermaid or known to be the most beautiful creature of the lands, men would take this advise however lynx portray this message through an imperative and that we as an audience have to listen to it and we have no choice.
How are people and places represented in this advert?
The men within this trailer are represented as the dominant kind. This is due to the women trying to seduce the men in an aggressive way and women within this trailer are portrayed in a sexual way, as the mermaid within the trailer are playing a very teasing role with their tops off therefore they are shown to in a negative way as many women would find this to be disrespectful and not tolerated due to their behaviour and the lack of clothing being worn. Furthermore men are also shown to be superior than women in this perspective in the fact that she is trying to seduce him whilst he helplessly tries to stop but she shows animalistic behaviour towards the guy and a sense of desperation.
What techniques does the advert use to appeal to it’s target audience?
The advert uses sexy women to appeal towards it audience as the primary audience for the advert is men who are aged 14-50, and they are more likely to be in the socio economic class of a D, C1, C2 and E. This is because lynx is an established brand however there are products which are better and stand at a higher quality. Furthermore we can see that it is for men because the man himself puts the product on himself and also at the end a narration of women saying that all girls prefer a dry guy; therefore implying the product is for a female. The secondary audience would be men of a higher status or at a higher or lower age of 14 and 50.
What does this text tell us about the media institutions involved?
This shows and conveys to us as an audience that uni leaver are above the beliefs of having dominant ideology and that they higher respects of the male gender. Furthermore uni leaver has stronger beliefs for the male gender as we see that women are portrayed in a negative view.
